    To encourage kids to move more, it helps to give them fun activities they can do even when they’re indoors. Why not try these fun dance routines to help your kids stay active any time and no matter what the weather?

    How it works

    1. Pick a dance routine and print it out.
    2. Use the print out to practice the moves. Try it out with different types of music.
    3. Try to perform the dance without the paper, it doesn’t matter if you don’t get every step right, the aim is to just keep moving!


    If it’s raining or very cold outside or there aren’t enough kids around to play together, it can be a challenge to encourage your child to get up and active. Why not try these fun treasure hunts to help keep your kids moving even when they’re indoors?

    Scavenger Hunt

    Choose different coloured sticky paper for each child playing. Place the bits of paper in several locations around the house. Whichever child finds all their coloured paper first wins.

    Point Hunt

     

    What do your kids do to occupy themselves during break times or when friends come over? It’s often a time when snacks come out, whether they’re hungry or not. Why not encourage your children to stay active and snack less with these fun games that could help motivate them to get moving?

    Tail tag: A t-shirt or napkin for each player.

    Cones and domes: 40 plastic cups, 20 for each team.

    When kids watch TV they often sit still for long periods of time as they concentrate on the story. During this time, it’s good to get up and move about a bit, instead of just sitting. Here's a fun, simple game to get the whole family moving without missing out on the action. Pick a word and every time you hear that word on TV, just stand up. Whoever stands up fastest wins!
